Microsoft will nicht geholfen werden
Witzig:

Movie Potpourrie
A few dozen of you already discovered my little "collage" on a movie
called Bad Taste below. It's an old little low
budget splatter movie by the - now famous - IMDB(Peter
Jackson,name,nm0001392). I saw it somewhen in the 90ies late at night
in a small cinema, forgetting its title but remembering the fun. Some
weeks ago I found a cheap DVD but hesitated to buy it because it had
only german (badly) dubbed audio. The more disappointed I was when I
finally bought it (it was cheap, see) and the bloody thing had only 78
minutes - while the original move (the one I saw at the cinema) has
more than 90 minutes. They simply cut all the splatter. Now the movie
is completely pointless. Well, it's still a little funny and the image
below shows why. The aliens look just great and action is good -
without fany tricks or a big budget.
Then I spent friday night watching The Sentinel
in the cinema. Good entertainment. Nothing spectacular but well
watchable. But I dont get why the spell "Jack Bauer" "David
Breckinridge" Kiefer Sutherland's role is the very same. Oh, and
Sledge Hammer as the US predident is just
hilarious.
I consider south korean movies as always good for a surprise. They sometimes produce really interesting stuff as the last Fantasy Filmfests have shown. I just watched JSA which is really good. As a german I can relate to the country being divided story as I can relate to the "stupid wars" story as a human being. Watch it.

ASCII and Pixel garbage
So, more stuff nobody needs (and that imply legal problems):
These people demonstrate again
what you can do with aa and too much
time on your hand. As you see, you can watch the world cup with xawtv
or telnet - I hope the GEZ doesnt get
funny ideas.
Talking about funny ideas, a (still) big german tabloid has problems reading geographical coordinates which made me try Google Earth, that is now eventually available for Linux. The image below shows the spot Angelina Jolie has tattooed on her arm. I should've looked in the IMDB first - it says this is where her adopted children come from. I hope it's not the actual meadow on the airport.
Now let's see if showing Google Earth images is legal :(

Konstruktionsfehler
untiges Bild gesehen.
Naja,
egal.

Inline upgrade of multiple instances MaxDB 7.5 to 7.6
It is actually in the docs but this is the condensed version of what
you have to do to upgrade multiple 7.5 instances (on Linux) to current
7.6 of MaxDB:
One of my instances got toasted, it could not even perform a full backup anymore. But that was an old instance with uncertain family history, so I do not care.
- Full backup, Download from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/maxdb/7.6.00.html
- Shutdown all instances (db_offline), stop x_server
- Use SDBINST to install the software, don't touch any instance
- Connect to each instance with dbmcli -d DB -u dbm,dbm
- db_reg
- param_checkall
- db_online
- load_systab
